Screaming Trees

2020
Trees as dimensional gateways to new worlds.
The vegetation around my home acted as an almost obliged subject during the first lockdown. A period coincided in Italy with the arrival of spring in 2020: a different spring, with dark and destabilizing shades. The impulse to represent only nature as a rebalancing subject of human fragility quickly turned into a desire  to give life  to other dimensional spaces and alternative realities. These are created through digital processing of photographs by destructuring and reassembling the image on the basis of single color gradients. The results are some kind of imaginary galaxies as a space of mind.
In this project trees are like mystical entities as happen in many civilizations which attribute supernatural dimensions to sacred trees, directly related to ancient, deep-rooted pagan traditions.
Trees, all over the world, have played an important role in many mythologies and religions, a role to which sacred and profound meanings have been attributed. Human beings, observing the growth and death of trees, the elasticity of their branches, the sensitivity, the annual decay and regrowth of their foliage, see them as powerful symbols of growth, decay and ultimately of resurrection.
These works reach their maximum expression when printed on backlit panels or displayed at maximum brightness in a high resolution screen.

Elsewhere
2015 -2019
Architecture transcends physical space and becomes a place of the mind. Walls, corners, ceilings, details that we have under our eyes every day can act as a space / time door: a harmonious dimension within an often fragmentary urban context. The elsewhere that is inside of me.
